Mike the Solar Guy

Each mark is one company we hold in the Albany area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Mike the Solar Guy is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Mike adequately provided all the information I needed to make a decision about having solar panels installed on my roof and the benefits that I would receive. He explained everything in a way that I could understand and didn't pressure me into signing anything that day. After reviewing everything, I called him and told him that I would like to pursue it. As I review my electric bill today, I think that I made the right choice. I highly recommend Mike especially for his professionalism.

We've had our solar setup that Mike designed for us for over a year now. We couldn't be happier with the service, and the system. After switching over from heating with coal, to a heat pump, and also an electric hot water heater instead of propane, we are saving money every month. Highly recommended!!

He made the process as smooth as it could be and always got back to us quickly when we had questions.

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

Its website also mentions free estimate, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

• It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
• It posts on Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

• —The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
• —We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
• —We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
