Its one and two star share is 2 points below the typical installer in Hilo. Across Hawaii, 53 of the 87 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 5 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in Hilo whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Provision Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Shawn and Hawai’i Solar Connection have great customer service. Friendly and fast communication, quality products and installation, and he even took the time to answer lots of my texts about my solar usage, language, and details so I can better understand the system.

We highly recommend Provision Solar. We have used their services to install three sets of solar panels on our home over the last 10 years. The installations went quite well. More importantly, they are there for you through the installation and afterward. They are always ready to assist no matter when they installed the panels. Our latest installation was last year. Our sales rep was Linc Reinalda and was very helpful in not only the installation of the 10 panels but also in getting financing for this last group of panels.

We’ve had our PV system for over a year now and are thrilled with the results. Provision made everything easy from the start. Install was quick and all of the required inspections and approvals were all handled by ProVision Solar. The customer service and support is fantastic. Highly recommend.

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
