The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 22 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.
Every company we hold in Hilo, on one axis
Each mark is one company we hold in Hilo whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Rising Sun Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

6 years ago I selected Rising Sun Solar to install a system at my home in Kona. The install was successful without incident until it wasn't. When I arrived in January 2024 the system was down and both the LG Chem battery and Solar Edge inverter were shot. It took 7 months to resolve these problems and I'm still not sure things are fixed because the solar array isn't communicating. I just received a quote for $563 for a Solar Edge communication card, which is a warrant item and free, and another $600 to install it, which is a 30-60 minute install. Anyone who reads this bad review should know I

Sad to write this review as I really tried to find a resolution. Customer service blew it. It was clearly agreed before we signed a contract that the purchase of my system would include the removal of the old panel on my roof which powered only my hot water heater. I paid $40k upfront, waited months for the install. When the new system was installed, the workers took down the old panel but didn’t connect the hot water heater to the main house electricity so for a month we’ve had no hot water. I tried over and over to get them to hook up the hot water heater back to the house. They refused sayi

Noticed a Rising Sun Solar company vehicle driving over 50mph in a 35mph in Waikoloa Village this afternoon. Not willing to support a company that is so careless & irresponsible with our community- children, elderly, pets, etc.

We are pleased with the final product - the system is working well and exceeding the output specified in the contract. The project took much longer than anticipated, in part because of issues with the supply chain. Some of the delays were caused by errors in project management, i.e. workers on site without the required parts on two or three occasions. This didn't add to our expense but was irritating. We would recommend that anyone contracting for solar negotiate a completion date in the contract with some sort of deduction for delays.

Rising Sun Solar installed two Enphase brand Batteries (added to my 'existing' solar system that was installed by another contractor that stopped supporting their residential solar work, and said I must find another contractor to add needed batteries- since they didn't install enough). Over a 6-month period, I had contacted every Enphase contractor on island and each one burst out laughing and said: "There's NO money in that for us (installing 2 extra batteries for a customer), the money is in whole full solar system installations- and we're only here to make as much money as possible- such a

It was a difficult project because of the trouble with the HOA. But Rising Sun Solar worked with me at every stage to get the installation done. They took care of all the permits required by the County and the power company. They even helped me sell the old solar panels and micro-inverters. The new system was actually installed while I was absent but it was done well and the system has now been running for three months without any issues. The team was in contact with me before and during the installation so that all questions that need to be answered were answered. I would like to specifically

Rising sun did an excellent job from start to finish! Their Sales person Brooke is very knowledgeable and customized our system to our specific needs while maximizing tax benefits and system efficiency. Ryan the project manager (also very knowledgeable) streamlined the timeline to get the system installed within our required dates. And the whole team of installers and electricians, were the most professional, competent and responsive of any technicians I've worked with in my time living on the island. A true pleasure to work with. The system has performed flawlessly since installation includin

What the company says about itself
Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.
Its website also mentions free estimate and licence number, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.
What we don't know
- The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
- We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
- We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
