Its one and two star share is level with the typical installer in Hilo. Across Hawaii, 45 of the 87 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 45 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in Hilo whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Sun Powered Yachts is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

This company came highly recommended, but I fail to understand why? I tried to order a panel...Lyall said he'd quote the freight and then ------ crickets. I sent follow-up emails...got follow-up crickets. SMH

It has been an absolute pleasure working with Sun Powered Yachts, and I cannot recommend them highly enough to anyone in the yachting community! From my very first interaction, Lyall was an incredible resource. His knowledge of solar power systems for marine applications is truly unparalleled. He didn't just try to sell me a product; instead, he took the time to listen to my specific needs and offered the kind of genuinely helpful, expert advice that is hard to find these days. It is clear that he really cares about helping fellow cruisers find the right solution, not just any solution. The qu

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Established

“Debris Proj ect ( PMDP ) in Hawaii. Since 2020 PMDP has conducted multiple cleanup…”

  • Years in business

“in the solar industry in Hawaii for over 15 years, most recently for SunSpear Energy .”

Its website also mentions free estimate, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • Google publishes no street address for this company, so we cannot say which town it is based in. Hilo is the area its listing was returned for, not an address we hold.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
