We had a problem where we did not have more than a showers' worth of hot water. Solar Plus came in, said our 40 gallon water heater was too small, and suggested upgrading to an 80 gallon water heater. We let them upgrade, it, but then we were left with exactly the same problem as before, still only one shower's worth of hot water. So $1600 later and we had no fix. They have refused to come and fix this. So avoid this place at all cost.

Before going with Solar Plus, I also requested information from several other solar installers here on Kauai. While i must say, that I didn't have any issues with any of them, Solar Plus (and Doug) really stood out. Why? Doug was great to work with and discuss ALL details of the project (he is very thorough and takes all the time you need to explain things). Solar Plus price offered the best value. We worked with Doug on a solar and battery backup system for our house in Princeville about 4 years ago. He's been great to work with, very knowledgeable in an industry with rapid changes, and always available when I have questions about our system or its performance. Aside from routine maintenance, our system has been trouble-free and a huge win in reducing our electric costs (important since we vacation rent our house a good part of the year, and guests are usually not very concerned about power usage).
