Its one and two star share is 13 points above the typical installer in Sacramento. Across California, 286 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 238 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Every company we hold in Sacramento, on one axis

0% rated 1–2★35%

Each mark is one company we hold in Sacramento whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Sunrun is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

This lousy company won't stop harassing us with salespeople interrupting our dinner over and over again in spite of our repeated requests for them to take us off their list and to stop soliciting us at our home (it's now happened more than 2 dozen times). We posted 'No Soliciting' signs because of them but they ignore the signage and continue to pester us. PLEASE STOP!!!

Sunrun installed a faulty inverter, now they are charging me 850 dollars to change it out. They do not stand by their service or products. They charged 600 dollars for a tech to identify a faulty inverter they already knew about. He was there for 20 min. The tech was great as an aside. I own the system outright. Over the past 5 years, they have cost me 2,000 dollars in service fees, lost production, and true up fees that could have been avoided. Extremely poor customer service, would never recommend Sunrun.

Their door to door salesmen are aggressive. If they are that good, why do they bother folks going door to door? It makes me not want to do business with them. They ignore signs and persistently ring and knock multiple times and keep coming back. That practice erodes confidence and reputation of a company.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Warranty

“of contract, 5 year roof penetration warranty, 24/7 system monitoring Who…”
  • Free estimate

“Enter your zip to start your free quote Do you own your home? Yes No Next…”
  • 24/7 availability

“full service for life with 24/7 monitoring Sunrun Subscription Plan…”
  • Years in business

“for the energy your panels produce over 25 years—replacing part of your utility bill.”

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on Pinterest, X, LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.

Something wrong here? Tell us and a person will read it.
