Its one and two star share is 19 points above the typical installer in New York. Across New York, 39 of the 247 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 163 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

I got panels installed last year they worked, but not producing enough power. Now they stopped working completely. I keep calling and I get no answer no call back

  • 1★ · around September 2026

Do not use this company for the solar panels. They are impossible to get a hold of after they sell you the solar panels. They open a permit and left it open and never closed it. Impossible to speak to someone.

Scam- Never installed it properly Now we are being billed 30K

UPDATE: 8/1/24 -- I spoke with the owner of Surf Clean Energy several weeks ago who reached out to me after seeing my review. He advised me about their error with the BBB, they now have a BBB accreditation with several ratings (Please check it out). Also I advised him, I didn't want anything to happen to the sales rep as I felt he was doing the best job possible with the information and the presentation he was provided to use, and that he called his supervisor when asked questions he could not answer. He advised they will strive to bring better transparency to their pricing for future customer

Guilyer’s team worked professionally and with respect for my newly roofed and sided house. They were neat and careful.

  • 5★ · around March 2026

Excellent work Guilger team. Very professional and friendly. I will recommend to everyone.

  • 5★ · around February 2026

I can recommend Surf Clean Energy to anyone needing to have solar panels installed. They kept their commitments and did a good job. Their installers were friendly and professional, and they cleaned up after they were done. The office staff followed up to make sure all the paperwork with the utility and inspectors got approved.

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on ConsumerAffairs and the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
