Its one and two star share is level with the typical installer in Columbus. Across Ohio, 49 of the 113 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 15 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Every company we hold in Columbus, on one axis

0% rated 1–2★45%

Each mark is one company we hold in Columbus whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. BC Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

What reviewers said

Brian put up solar panels at our residence and shop. He and his crew were very skilled and prompt. Brian was excellent at communicating and over the past year has checked in our system and answered any questions we had. He even checked in on us after a major power outage to make sure the system was running effectively. We even added more panels because we were so pleased with the result. Would highly reccomend this company to anyone interested

We have had a great experience with BC Solar. We had solar panels and batteries during a renovation, and later added additional panels and a third battery. Brian provided several options for us based on what we wanted within our budget range and helped us understand the differences. Installation was quicker than I expected and the electric team was terrific as well. Brian has been helpful anytime I've had a question. I love looking at the app on my phone to see how much solar we're generating! Highly recommend BC Solar!

Our interactions with Brian at BC Solar have been great. I get the sense he's straightforward and honest about the whole solar process, which we appreciate. He’s not pushy, just seems genuinely interested in explaining solar systems and making sure you understand what you're getting into. He was friendly and easy to ask questions to. His honest approach gives us confidence in him and his company.

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
