Its one and two star share is 3 points below the typical installer in Portland. Across Oregon, 55 of the 106 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 80 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Every company we hold in Portland, on one axis

0% rated 1–2★15%

Each mark is one company we hold in Portland whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Cascade Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

What reviewers said

After interviewing a number of local firms we signed on with Cascade Solar. Things were busy given the impending end of federal tax credits and our vintage home created some additional issues, but in the end they got the installation done in time and the installers were true craftsmen. Post sales service has been good as well. Between the batteries and the solar the system appears to be performing at or better than promised. Would definitely recommend considering Cascade Solar for your solar installation, we are very happy with our system.

Cascade Solar is such an easy company to work with. They are knowledgeable, attentive, communicate frequently, and look at you and your project holistically. They seem to be looking for customers for life rather than the next quick buck and that shows in their workmanship as well as customer experience.

We are very happy with our solar system and Franklin WH backup battery. We are pleased with the performance of our system so far which has been exceeding the projected kWh for the months we have been active so far. Rae, Tom, Greg, Rachel and the rest of the team were very helpful in the design and installation process along with following up after installation checking to see if we had any questions or concerns. They provided us with various options, allowing us to play around with different panel options and micro inverters to maximize the setups production to meet our high energy demand with

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Financing

“support --> Honest Financing Flexible financing options to make the transition to solar…”

  • Warranty

“our work with a 10-year workmanship warranty because we believe doing the job…”

Its website also mentions licensed, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on GuildQuality and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
