Its one and two star share is 9 points above the typical installer in Santa Cruz. Across California, 386 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 17 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in Santa Cruz whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Day One Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

I purchased a home with a solid system installed by this company, and the solar system not responding or working. I reached out to the manufacturer and they recommended a part that needed to be repaired or replaced. Come to find out the part was never installed. I purchased the part and reached out to have them come out and check the issue. He said ok let me check the system and I’ll come talk to you. He put the part on and then said ok it’s all up and working. Next thing I know I’m being charged not only for the part but for them installing the part that should have been installed by them. I

Day One Solar is one of the best local solar installation companies in Santa Cruz. From start to finish, their communication was excellent, and they kept us informed throughout the entire project. Tony and Matt make an outstanding team—professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. The installation process was smooth, and the quality of work was top-notch. I would confidently recommend Day One Solar to anyone in the area looking for a reliable solar contractor.

Day one bailed us out big time. Our inverter died during the height of Covid and we lost 6 months of generation since well… in 2020 there were plenty of other things to worry about. Anyway the company who installed it had been bought out and wasn’t providing service anymore, and day one was the only one we could reach. They were so nice, got us a new inverter promptly, so easy to deal with. Just all around great people.

Day One Solar is one of the best companies I have ever used. They are prompt, professional, customer-focused, and highly skilled. When I contacted them to help solve a problem with my existing solar panels (installed by another firm), they worked to diagnose the issue and develop a repair quote/ timeline. The team arrived on time and informed me of progress, any difficulties, and how they dealt with any issues. I highly recommend using Day One Solar and will use them again when needed.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
