Its one and two star share is 1 point below the typical installer in the San Jose area. Across California, 674 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 480 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the San Jose area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. EnergyAid is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

When my solar company went out of business I was given EnergyAid's contact. I was very specific when I contacted them about what needed to be done. They charged me $299 to come out and review my system(which didn't need reviewing) and then told me they couldn't do the work that was needed, and refused to refund my money. These guys may be good for simple solar stuff but I would be very specific about your needs before using them

We lost monitoring capability to our system. The repair technician came unprepared to access the system. User name and password for the controller was unknown. Info could not be obtained from either EnergyAid or SMA who put them on hold for 40 minutes and never succeeded in talking to someone that could help them. Managed to establish that the Ethernet cable from the box to our router was bad we think so another visit will have to be scheduled for replacement or repair of that cable since it goes under the house and the technician didn’t have the necessary cables or the tools anyway. Spencer is a nice guy who took pics that, 62 days later, Chris, the Enphase guy said he didn't look at and didn’t know anything about. After both visits, we were out a couple thousand and still had no way to monitor our solar production. I was able to connect after spending 75 minutes on a phone call to Enphase to convince him to link our address and site number to the app. The process works but there is no central office and the various people involved have never met. All told, about 20 Energy Aid reps contacted us and none of them had heard of the others or could confirm anything.

The technician came on time, replaced the inverter in a couple of hours, and made sure everything was working by checking energy production on the app.

They have been professional, friendly and have communicated very clearly about the process of the repair from estimate to completion

Great job diagnosing the problem. Very thorough inspection. Took time to explain everything and the next steps in the repair process.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
