Its one and two star share is level with the typical installer in the New Haven area. Across Connecticut, 40 of the 112 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 170 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

I hired Green Power Energy to install a solar system at my home. Shortly after the system was turned on I began experiencing electrical problems. A burned electrical connection that was not part of the solar system was later identified. Green Power denied responsibility, and Small Claims Court ultimately agreed with them. They offered me a discounted repair, but would not repair it at no cost. My takeaway is that, based on my experience, I would not expect them to go “above and beyond” if problems arise.

I reached out for a quote and got a response from someone and then after that did not receive any response to any emails I sent. I understand things are probably busy for everyone at this point given credits are ending but wish our emails weren't just ignored. We ended up going with a different company for our solar installation.

As per GPE’s recommendation, I had my roof replaced just before the solar panels went up in early 2022—by a roofer recommended by their sales rep. Since then, we’ve had multiple leaks in various places. The roofer blamed GPE, and GPE blamed the roofer. GPE’s installers knocked off ridge caps (I included a photo taken from the attic the day after installation—you can see daylight through the roof) and cut into the flashing around two skylights, which began leaking shortly after. I voiced my frustration, and while GPE acknowledged part of the issue and paid to fix one ridge cap, they ultimately

We asked 3 different quotes before making a decision, Green Power Energy was the company that gave us the worse quote, their sales agent told us that we would need almost as twice as many panels compared to what the other two companies told us...and the type of panels he offered us would not produce as much energy as the panels offered by the other two companies either. Also, our monthly bill would have been higher if we had gone with Green Power Energy.

We had a great experience working with GPE. Austin Dow was responsive, honest and clear with all information. He gave us all the information we needed, without trying to force any of our delicious. We had worked with other solar companies previously and thought their tactics were pushy, dishonest, and disingenuous. We had none of that coming from GPE and we're able to make the choice we thought suited us best. The installers did a fantastic job, they were courteous, polite, and performed as all professional trades people should. 11/10 do reccomend.

We contacted Green Power Energy when our original solar installer ceased operations, including support of existing systems. From initial contact to completion of hooking our system up to our new whole house generator Green Power has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. Kyle, our new operations & system support technician was not only knowledgeable and efficient but understood exactly what we needed and seemlessly performed the changes and link-up to the generator required. We look so forward to having Green Power Energy be our solar system maintenance company for years to come. They are a t

Green power was great with install and follow up . Had a problem with first leasing company and they resolved with several alternate plans immediately. I will say this and this has nothing to do with Green Power Energy ;if you expect to have solar installed right away you need to learn the word PATIENCE , your local town and power company have more to do with the install timing than anything. I have had solar for 6 months and already have had 3 months of "credits" from UI. Thanks Green Power Energy!

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Years in business

“Your local solar company trusted for over 15 years, serving homeowners across New Jersey…”

Its website also mentions warranty, free estimate and better business bureau, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on YouTube, Facebook, X and Instagram. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
