Its one and two star share is 1 point above the typical installer in the Portland area. Across Oregon, 40 of the 106 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.
The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 93 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Ordered by the share of one and two star reviews, weighted by how many reviews stand behind it. It ranks review records, not workmanship.
Every company we hold in the Portland area, on one axis
Each mark is one company we hold in the Portland area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. A&R Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

A&R Solar scammed me when all I need was a thorough inspection for my first home. A&R was recommended to me by one of my coworkers and initially I thought I would give them a chance to support a business I hadn't heard of before. What a huge mistake, luckily I was at the home during the inspection or else I wouldn't have witnessed what I can only describe as the most pathetic and low effort inspection I've ever seen. It was a beautiful sunny day and the technician wouldn't even attempt to inspect the panels on the roof. I also expected them to walk through tips and way to better take care of t

Company keeps calling even after they have been asked multiple times to stop and to take me off their call list - stating they need a reason since apparently not wanting the calls isn't enough of a reason. This is highly ILLEGAL, they will be reported and I recommend anyone else in this situation to report them as well.

Wow, the driver showed up incredibly late two days in a row. Save your money, this company is extremely disorganized

Our journey with solar and battery backup began November 2025 when we contacted 3 companies for bids. Of the 3, A&R was the only one that had the integrity to state that completing the project by the end of the year wouldn't be possible (we were trying to get the federal tax credit that expired end of 2025). A&R's process was well managed, from sales through installation, permitting, and final turn on with our utility. They worked closely with us on designing for our needed capacity, integration of the battery system, and pushing our utility to do the utility's end of the job when it got bogge

Was a great experience from beginning to end. From laying out the initial desires over the phone, coming out and measuring the house for ideal panel placement, working within our budget (and also the pity 15% off), handling all the paperwork, to finally installing the whole system in horrible winter weather, A&R made the process of adding a solar system to our house pretty dang easy and pleasant. Also, the system is awesome and watching our generation numbers is kind of a fascinating game... almost as fascinating as watching the electric bill reduce to almost nothing. For all of the above reas

A&R was terrific. They were extremely organized, precessional and did high quality work. They build our solar system exactly as they said hey would, with no hiccups. I would work with them again

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.
What we don't know
- The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
- We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
- We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
- We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
