Its one and two star share is 5 points above the typical installer in Phoenix. Across Arizona, 97 of the 269 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 426 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

0% rated 1–2★15%

Each mark is one company we hold in Phoenix whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. American Solar & Roofing is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

This Company is trash!!! Stay away. Customer service is awful and they try to nickel and dime you for everything they can. If you ever have any issues with your system they will try and charge you $500.00 to cust come out and inspect your stuff. Stay away! not worth it.

BEWARE! This company is a SCAM. They convinced me to do solar on my house by promising a 20 year warranty on the complete system. When I called forr warranty service they said that I had to pay them $400 for an inspection or they wouldn't even show up. Turns out the problem was they used the wrong size wire and it burned 🔥 up. Luckily the fire was contained inside the disconnect box and only did a couple few hundred dollars worth of damage. Now every few months they call me and tell me I should pay them to come "inspect" my system and that I only ever had a 10 year warranty.

My system was installed approximately 12 years ago. The installation was seamless with no issues. The only complaint I have is when the inverter went out their sales department try to sell me a new inverter. I thought it was still under warranty but they refused to make a call, saying that was my responsibility. So I contacted another company in which they called and found out the inverter was under warranty. So a new inverter was sent out at no cost and all I was charged was for labor. So given this I have mixed feelings about doing any future business with this company. Great sales pitch and

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Years in business

“solutions built to last. With over 24 years of dual expertise, we ensure each…”

  • Bonded

“knowledge, we are the only licensed, bonded and insured roofing and solar company…”

  • Insured

“we are the only licensed, bonded and insured roofing and solar company in Arizona.”

  • Licensed

“in 2008, and is now the only local licensed solar and roofing installer. Led by…”

Its website also mentions woman owned, free estimate and licence number, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
