Its one and two star share is level with the typical installer in the Los Angeles area. Across California, 758 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 85 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Every company we hold in the Los Angeles area, on one axis

0% rated 1–2★15%

Each mark is one company we hold in the Los Angeles area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. AWS Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

What reviewers said

Really poor communication except when demanding payment - then they are on it! I usually found out the afternoon before that work would be performed, and then only because I called to ask. They messed up the permit but didn't tell me, so three weeks went by between installation and inspection. They emailed me the final invoice and someone literally called five minutes asking for payment, as I was paying it.

Tim Broughton at AWS solar saved my ADU project with his professional and timely handling of installation, permits, and inspections. It is a rare pleasure to work with a complete professional. Thank you Tim. David C

These guys literally put my roof to work. AWS Solar made the whole process simple and stress-free, and now the California sun is finally paying rent. Great service and a great team. Highly recommended

AWS Solar did an excellent job installing our solar panels and upgrading our main electrical panel in 2022 at our home in Stevenson Ranch. The team was professional, knowledgeable, and kept us informed throughout the entire process. Everything went smoothly from start to finish, and we're very happy with the results. Highly recommended!

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • 24/7 availability

“solar and battery for reliable, 24/7 energy Add-on Battery Boost your…”

  • Years in business

“energy solutions built to last. With over 19 years of experience and thousands of…”

Its website also mentions warranty, free estimate, established and licensed, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on Pinterest, X, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
