Its one and two star share is 8 points above the typical installer in Tucson. Across Arizona, 94 of the 269 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 41 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Every company we hold in Tucson, on one axis

0% rated 1–2★15%

Each mark is one company we hold in Tucson whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Clayco Electric Inc. Solar Specialist is the red one. Contracted Clayco Electric / Clayco Solar in April 2025 for a significant solar installation at my Oro Valley home. Paid in full by August 2025. The system has never fully operated correctly. Over 7 months later, a portion of the contracted system remains non-functional due to installation. Customer service has been nonexistent — no proactive follow-up after installation, repeated broken commitments, and emails left unanswered for days at a time. Every contact to get this resolved has been initiated by me. When I escalated directly to the owner (Clay Mauldin), he provided explanations that wer

I had decided to go with Clayco to install Solar Panels on my home because the company's Project Manager Mike Kirk was well informed, professional, and instilled confidence in the quality of the work. However, throughout the couple months work, promised phone calls from the office were often late and had to be prompted by me to communicate. At completion of installation, I had over 2 dozen lag bolts driven down through my ceiling. The owner Clay Maudlin was extremely brash, rude, and blamed me for not having informed Clayco I had beamed ceilings. There were also 3 solar panels which were not s

Extremely poor customer service. They claim to provide system monitoring to ensure efficient operations. My system was not operating properly for 2 months. When I alerted them to this fact it took them 2 weeks to get a repairman to my home. They told me that they don't monitor systems despite what they tell you during their sales pitch. So apparently the homeowner is supposed to check the monitoring system on a daily base . As a result of their incompetence, I have almost a $1000 worth of electric bills that I have to pay..

I had to have the roof replaced on my house. Since Clayco was the company that installed my solar panel system, I hired them to remove them so the roofing company could do the repairs. They timed everything perfectly, so they came off the day before the roofing company arrived, and they went back on less than a week later, after the roofing job was completed. Awesome company to work with. I can highly recommend them without reservation!

Trustworthy & competent solar contractor in Tucson. Clayco Electric impressed us from cost estimate to completion. Each member of their team had the right expertise to understand our individual solar needs. The cost was reasonable, the installation high quality, and they completed our project on time and within budget.

The entire Clayco team was great to work with for my solar installation. They kept me informed every step of the way. I'm very pleased with Clayco and would highly recommend them for your solar installation.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Financing

“plans to inverter replacements and financing options, so you can go solar with confidence…”
  • Established

“has been in the electrical industry since 1995. At the age of 15 Clay started…”
  • Licensed

“and support sustainability. With licensed installers, NABCEP accreditation, and…”

Its website also mentions warranty, free estimate and family owned, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
