Its one and two star share is 4 points above the typical installer in the Tampa area. Across Florida, 186 of the 675 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 551 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Tampa area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Solar Bear LLC is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Never use this company. My attic is a mess. They put the foam in my attic, what a nightmare this has been. Promised my solar would pay for itself... It ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT!!! I still pay an additional electric on top of this. And I'm only in a 1600 square foot house. They totally messed up my air conditioning ductwork. I am still dealing with the mess up in the attic as I have been remodeling. I did take pictures each and every room as I have torn it down of the mess in my attic.. said the foam was to be only 6in. thick.. I have areas that are probably 36 in deep.. And still insulation that th

Don't do business with these people! I purchased Solar Panels for my home over 3 years ago. The panels have worked ok and I have been happy with them. Here is the problem. To get what I needed they made recommendations for changes to my home. I did what they recommended at additional cost to me. I was told they would rebate me $1,000 for changing my insulation - they recommended a company and it was done. That company's installers damaged brand new carpeting. I never said anything - I had to have the carpet cleaned several times before it looked good. The company never has paid me the rebate m

From the salesperson at Solar Bear through to the Roof Bear people who did the flat roof, to the Solar Bear folks who installed the panels, the spray insulation crew everyone was fantastic. If I ever move and need another set of panels for my roof Solar Bear will be my first call.

Solar installation was fantastic, and giving me even more power than they estimated. They even gave me a discount because they promised one service but weren't able to deliver on. My first electric bill came in from an entire month of using solar: $16.24!!! That's the minimum amount. Basically no charge at all for electricity. The charge was the basic service fee, and taxes (in fact there was overage, so at the end of the year I should get a discount from the electric company). My only regret is that I didn't call them sooner!

Erica, Brittany, Kyle, the electricians, and the installers were all excellent. Our system is up and running and we're thrilled.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Financing

“monthly utility bill. Is solar financing available? Yes, Solar Bear offers $0-down solar…”

  • Better Business Bureau

“and we maintain a stellar Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating. From your initial solar…”

  • Insured

“Solar Bear is a licensed and insured contractor in BOTH roofing and solar.”

Its website also mentions warranty, free estimate, established, licensed and licence number, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
