Its one and two star share is 3 points above the typical installer in the Anaheim area. Across California, 534 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 32 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Anaheim area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Unbound Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Sales "Expert" Sold me a non-CEC-compliant kit. I was drawn to Unbound Solar Marketing as a code-compliant kit. I purchased a Sol-ark 12k with 24 450-watt panels and there permits and planset, as a DIY'er this was very helpful. Only to find out that Unbound sold me non-California Compliant/non-registered Panels. I completed my project and passed inspection through my County in California. However, I cannot connect my system to the grid (i.e., PG&E) without removing all the panels and replacing them with CEC-compliant panels. When I tried to speak with their customer service, they either hung-u

The reason I decided to purchase from Unbound was that I expected them to be thorough and experienced at providing a complete solution, not just a box of parts. However, they missed an important detail in my ground mount design that I was …

Watch out for Unbound Solar. They pulled a bait and switch on me, and they might do it to you too. I ordered a 9.9kW system from them in early 2022. There were some delays with shipping the system, and when it came time to deliver they told …

I strongly recommend this Company. They helped me from start to finish To design and Work with the problems I was having with my county permitting. Great customer service, and easy to work with. I know I have a 20 KW solar system with 2 batteries.

Everyone was very helpful from Day 1 in sizing my system, getting all the parts and blueprints together, getting me in touch with a very experienced installer, and completing my solar journey! Everything went smoothly!

The staff was very responsive from start to finish. Everything worked out from their end of the protect.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Established

“have to do it alone. Wholesale Solar, est. 1998 More than wholesale: design + support…”
  • Years in business

“as we have for homeowners for more than 20 years. See Why We're Different → The…”
  • Licensed

“instructions — and you hire a licensed electrician for the final connection…”

Its website also mentions free estimate, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on ConsumerAffairs. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
