Its one and two star share is 11 points above the typical installer in Charlotte. Across North Carolina, 26 of the 130 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.
The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 543 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.
Every company we hold in Charlotte, on one axis
Each mark is one company we hold in Charlotte whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Palmetto Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Waste of time. After having sent them numerous emails with specific requirements, such as panels must be 430 W or better, they still get it wrong. And to get a sufficient quote they INSIST that you contact a sales person, bypassing written communications. I found their sales tactics to be relatively offensive and unwanted. If you cannot depend on them to honor your email details, heaven knows how they'd respond to warranty issues.

I feel completely misled by my experience with Palmetto/LightReach. They are demanding $98,708.61 as the Fair Market Value buyout of my solar system while refusing to provide the appraisal report, identify the appraisal company, or provide the supporting data used to reach that amount. We obtained our own independent valuation that is substantially lower. This dispute is now threatening the sale of our home. Palmetto says their $98,708.61 amount is non-negotiable while offering us a $58,910 prepayment that does not give us ownership. I strongly recommend that anyone considering a LightReach so

Update (3/1/2026): I finally got a resolution from Palmetto Solar and I am satisfied that it is a fair resolution. Update (2/2/2026): The response from the owner has still lead to no resolution. They are still "investigating." Update(12/4/2025): I’ve had my system for several years now (since January 2016), and I’m extremely disappointed. The system has gone offline multiple times due to warrantable issues. While the repairs were eventually covered under warranty, one of the outages took months to resolve. At the time, I was told I could be reimbursed for the downtime. It’s now been nine month

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.
What we don't know
- The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
- We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
- We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
